BRANDYWINE YMCA TO HOST LUNCHEON FOR ACTIVE OLDER ADULTS

Over 200 Seniors Are Coming Together For Fellowship, Flu Shots, And Entertainment

WHAT: This Friday, the Brandywine YMCA is hosting a luncheon for seniors. Roughly 200 people are expected to attend and many of them participate in the Active Older Adult programs and classes that the Y offers. In addition to the YMCA luncheon, flu shots will be available, as well as entertainment and some local vendors.

Some of the Active Older Adult programs and activities that take place at the Brandywine Y include:

  • “The Mermaids” – A group of seniors that get together regularly in the early mornings to participate in a water/aqua class at the Y. The call themselves the mermaids.
  • Social Group on Wednesday – They come together to play cards and different games (Mahjong, RummiKub, Shanghai and some others)
  • Monthly dinner dates – On the 2nd Wednesday of every month, they meet at a restaurant for dinner — many are widows so this gives them an opportunity to eat with someone or their friends from the Y
  • Chair Yoga Classes
  • Chair Stretch Classes
  • Senior Field Trips to local attractions museums etc. (places within a 10 – 12 mile radius)

WHEN: Friday, October 19th, 2018; 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM
