YMCA Sets Kids Up For Success At Healthy Kids Day

Free and open to the public – Saturday, April 26, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Wilmington, Delaware – The YMCA of Delaware is hosting the Y’s annual Healthy Kids Day® on Saturday, April 26th from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at multiple locations across the state. This free event features a variety of family-friendly activities to encourage healthy kids, healthy families, and a healthy start to the summer season.

Families across the First State are invited to enjoy an exciting lineup of arts and crafts, games, music, and giveaways—all designed to inspire kids to stay active and healthy. Parents, don’t just watch—jump in the action with your little ones by trying out Family Zumba and other group exercise classes! Plus, connect with local organizations offering valuable resources to support your family’s well-being. Join the Y for a day of play, movement, and family fun—because healthy habits start here!

Offerings vary by location. For more information on specific activities by branch, visit https://www.ymcade.org/hkd/

“At the Y, we believe in providing safe spaces and resources to ensure all children have access to what they need to reach their full potential, no matter the time of year,” said Jarrett Royster, YMCA of Delaware President & CEO. “This community-wide event offers families the opportunity for a little family fun while learning about the importance of moving and learning all summer long.”

Healthy Kids Day is the Y’s national initiative to improve the health and well-being of kids and families. The day’s goal is to get more kids moving and learning, creating healthy habits they can continue while they’re away from the classroom. When kids are out of school, they can face hurdles that prevent them from reaching their full potential. Research shows that kids fall behind academically without access to out-of-school learning activities. Kids also gain weight twice as fast during summer than during the school year. Through programs like summer camp, teen leadership programs, sports, swimming, and more, the YMCA can help ensure all children stay active and reach their full potential, even during out-of-school time.

Healthy Kids Day will be held at the following YMCA of Delaware branches:

  • Western Family YMCA – 2600 Capitol Trail, Newark, DE 19711
  • Brandywine YMCA – 3 Mount Lebanon Rd. Wilmington, DE 19803
  • Walnut St. YMCA – 1000 North Walnut Street, Wilmington, DE 19801
  • Bear-Glasgow Family YMCA – 351 George Williams Way, Newark, DE 19702

  • Dover YMCA – 1137 South State Street, Dover DE 19901
  • Sussex Family YMCA – 20080 Church Street, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971

At the Y, no family is ever turned away because of an inability to pay. The YMCA of Delaware awards financial aid to community members based on the family’s annual income. Visit www.ymcade.org/membership/financial-assistance to learn more about our Open Doors financial assistance program.
