Kick-Off Event to be held at the Brandywine YMCA on November 20th
Wilmington, DE – The YMCA of Delaware is excited to announce a new partnership with AARP, aimed at improving the health and well-being of Delawareans. The partnership will kick off with a special event at the Brandywine YMCA on November 20th, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, where the community will learn more about this collaboration and the benefits it brings.
Through this partnership, AARP members new to the YMCA will enjoy a 10% discount on YMCA membership, helping to ensure that staying active and healthy is affordable and accessible for all. The YMCA of Delaware is committed to supporting the health and well-being of everyone they serve, and this new partnership is a key part of that promise.
“At the YMCA, we believe in creating opportunities for everyone to thrive, no matter their age,” said Jesus De Las Salas, YMCA of Delaware Vice President of Social Responsibility and Corporate Partnerships. “This partnership with AARP aligns with our mission to provide health and wellness resources to the Delaware community. Together, we are working to make Delaware healthier.
The YMCA offers a variety of programs tailored specifically for Active Adults, from group exercise classes and water aerobics to social activities and wellness programs. Physical activity is essential as we age, not only for maintaining mobility and strength but also for enhancing overall well-being and mental health. According to the CDC, staying active can reduce the risk of chronic diseases, improve balance, and boost cognitive function.
“AARP is proud to partner with the YMCA of Delaware to help older adults stay healthy, active, and engaged in their communities,” said Lucretia Young, AARP Delaware State Director. “The two organizations share similar goals.” Young also noted that better health and social connectedness empower Delawareans to choose how they live as they age.”
Members of the media and AARP members are invited to attend the kick-off event on November 20th to learn more about the partnership. Attendees will also have the chance to participate in a sample fitness class, meet with YMCA staff, and explore the facilities.
