Purchase of Care accepted at Bear-Glasgow & Western Family YMCA locations.
Wilmington, Delaware – The YMCA of Delaware is pleased to announce the addition of the Purchase of Care program at two summer camp locations. This offering will allow the Y to serve more children and families in need by increasing access to full time care during out of school time in a safe, active and fun environment this summer.
Purchase of Care (POC), a program through the Delaware Division of Social Services, is a subsidy that provides support for early childhood and after-school education for children up to age 12 who live within 185 percent of the Federal Poverty Limit. Funding for the program comes from federal and state sources, which allow low-income families to pay for child care so parents and guardians can work or receive workforce training.
“The Y believes every child deserves the opportunity to make life-long memories, create new friendships and explore the natural world around them at a quality camp regardless of their family’s financial situation,” says Georganne Buccine, YMCA of Delaware Vice President of Youth Development. “We encourage eligible families to take advantage of this incredible opportunity to send their children to camp at the YMCA of Delaware.”
POC will now be accepted at the Bear-Glasgow Family YMCA and the Western Family YMCA summer camps immediately so families can ensure their children have a memorable and enjoyable summer. YMCA of Delaware summer camps include various programming from arts & crafts and STEM to sports and swim skills. All Y staff members receive training annually in child abuse prevention, first aid, CPR and workplace safety. Our number one priority is the health and well-being of our campers, staff and community.
