At the YMCA, we’re committed to improving our community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
That’s why we offer a wide variety of community programs at the YMCA designed to help nurture the potential of kids, help you live healthier, and support our neighbors who need us most.
Diabetes Prevention Program
Our Diabetes Prevention Program is for individuals who are at risk for prediabetes. It is a group-based program designed to help participants learn strategies for eating healthier, increasing physical activity, and making other changes to improve their health and well-being. Housing
The Residence at the Central YMCA provides housing to men 18 years and older. The residents are provided with a dorm-style room, discounted rates to use the fitness center, and access to various health and human service providers who partner with the YMCA. To be eligible for our residence program, you must complete an application and meet certain guidelines. For more information, contact Dara Hunter at 302-571-6950 or [email protected].
LIVESTRONG at the YMCA
The LIVESTRONG program supports the increasing number of cancer survivors who find themselves on the journey from completing their treatment to feeling physically and emotionally strong enough to return to normal life. These small group sessions are facilitated by certified YMCA instructors who assist participants in a variety of physical activity options including cardiovascular conditioning, strength training, balance and flexibility. Water Wise
We believe that every child should have the opportunity to learn how to swim. Free of charge, thanks to generous donations, our Water Wise program teaches basic swimming skills and safety around water to youth between the ages 3 – 17 years.
Y Mission Market
The Y Mission Market at the Central YMCA is a free store, open to community members, that aims to combat hunger and provide for those in need. The Market features shelf-stable and frozen food, clothes, and more. Donations were provided by local community members and partners. Anyone interested in supporting the Y Mission Market can bring donations to the Central YMCA front desk at any time.
